Construction of the university campus “Princess Noura Bint Abderrahman University” comprising 21 academic buildings, a hospital, a research centre, a library, 400 villas, 10 technical buildings. The Medical Centre (130,000m2 / 700 beds), because of its size and complexity, is a key building of the campus.

Reserved for women, this university will specialise in the field of health (medicine, dentistry, nursing care, etc.), as well as in the field of human sciences, fine arts, foreign languages, management, finance, sciences and IT, etc.) Princess Noura University is a new university campus covering an area of 1 million m2 to accommodate 60,000 students.

The section managed by Oger International comprises 6 buildings located in the “iconic” and medical zones and covering an area of 335,000m2.

“The PNU hospital was designed to meet at least the current requirements of the region and allow teaching covering a maximum of medical specialises.

In particular, it is equipped with 7 surgery zones and offers medical care such as: non-invasive medicine, dialysis, IVF, obstetrics-gynaecology, intensive care units, paediatric care unit (including intensive care), cancerology centre, cardiology, scanner, IRM, etc.i

The hospital has protected network infrastructures connecting it to all the hospitals in the Kingdom”

The objective of the Research Centre (42,000m2) is to combine various disciplines (biology, chemistry, physics, IT, engineering) around biomedical research in a modern, safe environment.

The central library was designed around a central Atrium, which is the centrepiece of the building. This atrium comprises, in particular, a wide variety of glazing relating to different technologies.

This concept required the use of innovating techniques in terms of manufacture and installation to achieve a high technical and aesthetic level.

Complete turnkey project management

Document Management: FDI / PCM interface
The PNU project provided the opportunity to develop interfaces between the document management system of Oger International and that of the Client (Primavera). Gateways were created enabling the movements of documents to be managed in both directions whilst maintaining our specificity of operation.

Environment. LEED certification
“The university of PNU is the largest university campus in the world in the course of LEED certification. Two major buildings (Library and Administration) have been presented for the Gold certification.
This certification has been taken into account since the beginning of the project by a design that promotes energy savings in particular.
A special effort has been made throughout the project on the materials by the widespread use of regional materials and recycled materials that considerably passes the established objectives.”

High Currents: EIB
Automated lighting management was installed throughout the buildings. It enables energy consumption to be optimised by influencing the lighting sources according to the external sunlight, the occupation of the room or opening hours.

Low Currents: CFD / Smoke extraction
3D digital models were used for all the buildings by CFD modelling (CFD = Computational Fluid Dynamics) making it possible to inspect the fire behaviour of a specified zone and optimise the resources used (drives for doors, opening windows in the roof, extractor fans, etc. )

Methods: GFRC / Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete
“To produce the 14,764 concrete GFRC elements, 128 different moulds were manufactured on site.
The studies made widespread use of the BIM technology.
All the elements were modelled with BIM.
A specific factory was installed on the site in Riyadh.
All the GFRC production techniques were used: spraying, pouring and vibration, vacuum injection, self-placing mixtures, etc.
This industrialisation of the production took place within the context of a technology transfer between the designer of the process (BETSINOR) and SAUDI OGER.
